Stream and download at the same time

BitLord is a free P2P software that allows you to download and stream anything with ease. Developed by House of Life, this program is a proprietary BitTorrent client for both PC and mobile platforms. It’s free but not open-source like other similar programs so instead, it is supported by ads. The features here work a little bit different compared to most, so you may have to consult the online documentation to figure things out.

Is BitLord a virus?

Considered the easiest torrent downloader around, BitLord was built using Python and the Qt cross-platform framework. It uses the libtorrent-rasterbar C++ library and its built-in browser was based on Chromium. In terms of credentials, this software appears to be reliable but it really shines through its features. For one, you can download any type of file that you find through its search function—whether it’s movies, songs, e-books, or other media.

Another cool feature is its ability to stream videos while there are on-going downloads in the background. It uses a built-in version of VLC media player so you can instantly play any video. Additionally, you can play them on a TV or other screens via Chromecast. You can even easily enable subtitles in various languages thanks to its full integration with OpenSubtitles. If you’d like to organize your collection, you can create playlists.

This software is usually safe to operate—however, it’s often mistaken for a virus of the same name. There have been many reports of users finding this download client a malicious virus but it’s usually due to one being named after it to trick people. As long as you download from the official website and other trusted platforms, you’ll be fine. If you want added protection during torrenting, it’s also recommended to get NordVPN.

May have security risks

All in all, BitLord is a great free alternative to other BitTorrent clients. While you’re going to get ads every now and then, the program is reliable enough and offers various handy features for anyone who likes to video-stream during downloads. It’s important to be careful when downloading this for the first time, however, as there are viruses that try to pretend to be the EXE file for this.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
